Herd Bulls

Meet the big fellas of the ranch responsible for much of the genetic makeup of the herd!

La Esperanza 326_edited.jpg

La Esperanza 326

"Esperanza"

La Esperanza is our Senior Herd Sire on the ranch. He was purchased private treaty from Dale Lasater at the 2015 Foundation Beefmaster Bull Sale and Field Day. As a 2 year old, we had no idea what Esperanza would become, but he has become one of our most prolific herd sires ever on the ranch. At 11 years old, Esperanza is now retired and will spend his final days here on the ranch with us. We plan to collect him for semen use in the summer of 2024.

Big Poppa.jpg

Rocky Creek 9335

Big Poppa

Big Poppa is the highest selling bull to ever sell at the Red River Beefmaster Performance Group Bull Sale. At the 2020 sale, he shattered the previous record selling for $17,500. Big Poppa ranks in the top 4% of the breed for birth weight, top 15% for weaning weight, top 20% for yearling, top 2 & 3 % respectively for CE & MCE, top 2% for REA and top 15% for IMF. Big Poppa is what many would call a "curve bender" with EPD numbers off the charts like his. His first calves are just now weaning and all we can say is, "WOW!" Be on the lookout for the first Big Poppa calves to hit the sale rings soon and don't miss out on the opportunity to purchase semen on this great one as well!

Bunk.jpg

L, 4283

"Bunk"

Bunk is named after our grandfather, Burnus Fisher. Burnus and Brett jointly purchased Bunk in the 2018 Retired Herd Sire offering at the Foundation Beefmaster Bull Sale. Bunk was selected by a group of cowmen - Nolan Ryan, Alex Lasater, Doug Johnson, et al - as the overall best bull calf in the 2014 calf crop. Bunk was used extensively by the Lasaters in the Foundation Herd and now, at 10 years old, covers 40 cows a year for us with ease. Bunk is a massive herd sire with unparalleled muscle tone and thickness throughout. He is an easy keeper and is as docile as one could ask for in a senior herd bull.

Thunder.jpg

L-J 7082

"Thunder"

We bought Thunder at the 2021 Foundation Beefmaster Bull Sale out of the retired herd sire offering. Thunder got his name from the first day Brett witnessed him exit the trailer onto ranch grounds. He said it was as if the ground thundered under his feet and so, Thunder was born. Thunder is a direct son of the Lasater Ranch's most prolific herd sire ever, L, 5367 "Dunnie." 7082 is as near a carbon copy of a son to a father as you will likely ever see. Their markings are almost identical. Both 5367 and 7082 have some of the highest libido we have ever witnessed in a herd sire. Thunder is, again, another massive sire overflowing with natural muscle and thickness. He moves around a 460 acre pasture covering 40 cows with EASE! He is truly a "specimen" to behold!

CF 703 Freight Train.jpg

Circle F 703

"Freight Train"

Freight Train is a home raised bull that was developed right here on the ranch in 2017 by Brett and his grandfather, Burnus. Freight Train was passed over by all of our bull buyers in 2018 and we decided to go ahead and give him a chance to breed some of our commercial cows to see what he could do. We were so impressed by his first calf crop in 2019-2020 that we gave him his own group of registered cows later that year. Freight Train's first heifer calves just sold at the 2022 Red River Beefmaster Performance Group Premium Heifer Sale in Paris, Texas in May, 2022. Open heifers sired by Freight Train averaged near $2,500 and his next set of heifers to go to the Red River Test are even better!

Simon Creek 934

Product Subtitle

Simon Creek 934 is the newest junior herd sire here on the ranch. Purchased by Rnady Morgan of M5 Beefmasters out of Call, Texas in the 2021 Red River Beefmaster Sale in Paris, we acquired 934 in the late winter of 2024. 934 will be used on our retained, open heifers for the '24 and '25 breeding seasons. We are excited to see what the Foundation, L- and Simon Creek genetics packed into this young man will do for our program!
